Another reason to call in a ghostwriter is that most people, who have a story to tell, are rarely in the writing world. They are people engaged in varied fields of life, and therefore do not have the time or the skill to invest in developing a book.
That there are more books than there are publishers is the agonizing realization that almost all people who have a good idea or a good story eventually have to come to terms with. Looking for a publisher is most often draining and frustrating because publishers, being first and foremost a business, consider many factors before taking up a title and thus leave out many potentially fantastic books.

The few authors-to-be that do get a contract with a publisher soon face another hard reality. Publishers in general will pay a less than 25% royalty to the author. At the same time, most publishing houses, unless they already have an established way of publicizing work in a specific genre, will rarely embark on a spirited campaign on a particular book title. The ambitious author then has the uncomfortable situation of having a fabulous title bearing the brand of a fabulous publishing house but no money in the bank.
Two scenarios emerge from this publisher-author circumstance. In the first scenario, the authors in their growing numbers who are unhappy with earning very little, find a ghost writer, write their own book, and then find a literary agent to help them market and sell the work. That way they can earn as much as 95% royalty. The success of self-publishing companies is testimony to those numbers.
Incomplete ideas and poor sequencing of the author's thoughts are some of the most common reasons why a publishing house rejects a manuscript. Typically, a publishing house does not want to be greatly involved in the development of a manuscript. Interacting with several publishing houses that reject what an author knows is a great manuscript, creates the second scenario.
If an author is solely interested in having their book published by a specific publishing house they hire the services of a ghost writer to refine the manuscript which they then take back to the same publisher. Many have eventually gotten their manuscript accepted that way, although there is still a large number who have more rejection letters than they care to speak about.
Why would that long route work? Remember that a ghost writer is a person with the same skill as the editor inside a publishing house, only this time they are giving you the service directly.
The list of reasons why accomplished authors use the services of a ghostwriter can be long. The major one though is this; most manuscripts started by an enthusiastic author will never see the light of day. Writing is not only tedious and time consuming it requires a great deal of persistence and professional skill. For a ghostwriter, that is an occupational hazard. For most people enthusiastic about writing a book, the grind is lethal to their idea.
In comparison, the larger percentage of manuscripts a ghostwriter develops get to the intended audience because a ghost writer comes in to write and complete the work. You too can get your book written and published; just hire Paula as your ghostwriter.
